NEW X-51™ BLADES LAST LONGER IN HIGH TEMPERATURE CUTTING APPLICATIONS AND NEVER YIELD TO STEEL
X-51 Bandsaw Blades

Fitchburg, MA (June 19, 2008) - Designed to handle the high temperatures generated when cutting exotic alloys and tough materials, New X-51™ Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades from Simonds International last longer than regular M42 blades reducing blade replacement costs and blade changeover frequency.

X-51 Bandsaw Blades feature M51 tooth tips to provide longer blade life cutting through cast iron, tool steel, die steel, stainless steel, nickel based alloys, titanium, Inconel and other exotic alloys. With its superior combination of cobalt and tungsten at the cutting edge combined with a fatigue-resistant blade backer, X-51 is designed for high resistance to frictional heat failure at the tooth tip.

Steel service centers and production cutting operations will find the X-51 blades perfect for longer runs and cutting of large cross sections and high-temperature alloys. X-51 blades assist users in their quest to "Never Yield To Steel", and can be seen on Simonds' nationwide Proving Ground van tour to end-user and distributor locations across the country (see www.neveryieldtosteel.com for tour dates).

Simonds' X-51 blades are available in three blade widths of 1", 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" and come in a variety of tooth pitch configurations from 2-3, 3-4 and 4-6 teeth per inch for maximum operator flexibility based upon the materials being cut in their particular setting.

The X-51 Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades are available with Simonds' patented Sine-Wave® technology which provides an aggressive broaching action in the cut, enhancing cutting ability, reducing work time and increasing blade life. It incorporates a series of "ramps" on the back edge of bandsaw blades, which allows bandsaw machines to exert more force into a cut without increasing machine pressure. The "rocking" motion of SineWave ensures less tooth-to-work piece contact which increases penetration for faster cutting.

NEW BEAST™ RECIPROCATING SAW BLADES NEVER YIELD TO STEEL
Beast Reciprocating Blades

Fitchburg, MA (February 22, 2008) - Simonds International has introduced new reciprocating saw blades that cut through the toughest, hardest-to-cut materials. The Beast™ Reciprocating Saw Blades were designed for multiple cuts through stainless steel, double-wall stainless tubing, mild steel, structurals, pipe and conduit in one pass with one blade.

Simonds' A8 BroadBand® Bandsaw Blades, Beast Reciprocating Saw Blades were manufactured specifically for use in automotive repair and muffler shops to cut through tough double-wall stainless steel exhaust systems. Mechanics often use more than one blade to make a complete cut through stainless steel tubing. The new Beast Blades allow users to finish not only their first cut, but continue on to additional cuts with the same blade saving both time and the need and expense of multiple blades.

The patent-pending Beast Blades incorporate a variable set tooth geometry and a specific tooth configuration to eliminate the pitching and vibration that produce heat and cause tooth stripping. The results are longer blade life, faster cutting times and less labor through cuts on the part of the saw operator. The Beast Reciprocating Saw Blades are available in 6" and 8" 18 TPI configurations.

The highly durable Beast Blades can also be used to cut through die and nickel based steels found in machine and maintenance shops. Fabricators, construction workers, do-it-yourselfers and tradesmen involved in building renovations will also find that a single Beast Blade can cut through a wide variety of materials in the shop and in the field.

Simonds International offers an extensive array of professional grade products including bandsaw blades, circular saw blades, power hacksaw blades and power tool accessories including hole saws, annular hole cutters, reciprocating saw, and hacksaw blades, hand files, and a broad variety of wood-processing machine knives, as well as support equipment for many of its products. Simonds also offers a line of industrial products including lifting and holding magnets and magnets for use on the shop floor. Its products are sold through a comprehensive worldwide distributor base.

At 60 Years Young, This Little Red Scoolhouse Is Not Getting Old

Fitchburg, MA (October 4, 2007) - Thousands of individuals have walked through this institution's doors over the years. Some are old, some are young. Some are experienced; some are new to the business. They come from across the United States and from across the globe and different social, economic and ethnic backgrounds. When they leave, they share a historic and common bond with one another started over sixty years ago in this mill town in Massachusetts.

Little Red Schoolhouse Today

Following the company's 175th company anniversary, Simonds International's industry renowned "Little Red Schoolhouse" training program is celebrating 60 years of training distributors in the fine art of sawing and teaching the nuances of the metalworking business to generations of industrial sales people.

Simonds actually began training distributor personnel as part of the company's way of doing business seventy years ago. In 1937, the company launched its "Red Caravan", a traveling trailer program that provided training to distributors across the United States. With the advent of World War II, the program was cut back for conservation purposes. Simonds continued its training program with the establishment of the "Little Red Schoolhouse" in 1947 situated at the company's Fitchburg manufacturing facility and today still trains hundreds of distributor personnel each year.

Little Red Schoolhouse Then

Over the Schoolhouse's three day curriculum, Simonds executives impart knowledge gathered from generations of Simonds sawing specialists and gained from today's salespeople working with customers on leading edge applications. Attendees are provided overviews on metallurgy, bandsaw machines and their operation, sawing technologies and cutting applications. Hands-on cutting experience is an essential part of each Simonds Schoolhouse.

In 2006, not resting on its laurels, Simonds launched its fleet of "Proving Ground" training vans, a new "mobile" training and demonstration program to bring their expertise in cutting technologies to the field. The vans travel to distributor and end-user locations around the country to support on-going advancement of bandsaw technology and focus on "real world" cutting applications. An expanded "tour" of these vans is planned for 2008.

Perfect for the shop floor flexibility required by fabricators, steel service centers, machine and job shops and production cutting houses, IC Enduro Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades are engineered with a custom designed variable tooth set to maximize cutting performance while minimizing kerf loss. The application-designed tooth geometry produces faster cutting rates increasing productivity while also delivering less noise and vibration during the cut.

The new IC Enduro Bi-Metal Bandsaw Blades are available in 2-3, 3-4, 4-6 and 5-8 TPI (teeth per inch) configurations and a variety of band widths ranging from 3/4" to 3 1/8". The 2-3 and 3-4 TPI blades in 1 1/2" and larger feature Simonds' "Ground Tooth Technology" which employs a proprietary manufacturing process to improve blade performance. Ground Tooth Technology delivers a smoother finish to blade tips and eliminates any negative effect on tooth quality often found when milling machine cutters get dull after long-term use.
