Swiss Pattern Files
Swiss Pattern files are used by precision craftsmen for finishing delicate and intricate parts. Narrow in both width and thickness, the teeth extend all the way to the edge of the file. These files offer the finest cuts available. The tapered files have fine points for delicate detail work.

Simonds offers a wide variety of Swiss Pattern files - Swiss Precision Files, tanged like American pattern files but narrower in width and thickness; Round Handle Needle Files, more slender than Swiss Precision for detail work; Machine Files, for use in bench filing machines; and Rifflers, used by die makers, die sinkers, silversmiths and jewelers on intricate work.

Additionally, we offer four Needle File assortments with our premium Black Maxi-Sharp® finish. The file shapes, or types, that are available are:

Keep in mind that Swiss Pattern Files are different from American Pattern Files in:

All of this results in higher costs to manufacture and a higher resale price to the file user.

The biggest difference between Swiss Pattern and American Pattern files is the fine, narrow point and slender body. If you are not doing intricate work and/or don't need the narrow point, American Pattern files may be used.
